Fw: “Evel Knievel tribute Triumph Bonneville motorcycle”

An European motorcycle dealer is building a motorcycle in honor of the late Evel Knievel. He is recreating the Triumph motorcycle that he used on his Ceasars Palace Jump many years ago. But not only do you get to buy the bike, but you also get an autographed picture  of Evel's leap at Ceasars.

With Evel's death, this bike may become a true collectors item as people start looking to make a connection with Evel after his death. Not to mention, as with the original bike used, it will sport the same color scheme that made the bike and Evel famous for so many generations.

2008 Bike Week Update
I've been going to bike week in Daytona for as long as I can remember. Downtown is just the same S.O.S with a bunch of idiots that ride their air cooled bikes around in circles at speeds to slow to adequately keep them cooled off. Remarkably they just can't understand why they need repairs (sometimes quite expensive ones) done after bike week. Which reminds me of all the "newbie" bikers that go out and buy a new motorcycle and clothes to match, because it's the "cool"thing to do, take the required course for their motorcycle endorsement and think they can ride in any kind of traffic! But that is a subject for a future posting.

Like I said in my earlier post on bike week my good friend and Brother in the wind, and just
all around great guy, Large Butch, turned me on to an antique club that he belongs to, the Antique Motorcycle Club of America. He owns a 1948 Indian Bonneville (I said it was a Chief in my earlier post).
Checkout their site at www.antiquemotorcycleclub.org. The Eustis meet is put on by the Sunshine chapter of Antique motorcycle club of America. February 29th thru March 2. I encourage any one who
likes old bikes or would just like to see the different models and makes of bikes you previously owned
to bring back old memories of good times gone by, to attend. Also you can find parts for your older bikes
that you may need parts for.

It sure beats watching the same bikes going around in circles on main street in Daytona.
But if you like that you will still have plenty of time to do that to.
